Reception following at the Lurie Engineering Center, Johnson Rooms

Driving instructions into Ann Arbor, public transportation options, and parking information are listed below. The green arrow on the map highlights the Robert H. Lurie Engineering Center, 1221 Beal Avenue, also known as the Lurie Engineering Center (LEC). On the 3rd floor of LEC are the Johnson Rooms, where the reception will be following the panel discussion, around 3PM on Thursday, June 8.

Directions Starting from Robert H. Lurie Engineering Center

  • Entering LEC’s main entrance off the circle drive, turn left through the walkway with windows towards the Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering (IOE).
  • The entrance to IOE will be near a short hallway to your left that leads to another exterior door, restrooms are located through the door into the IOE department.
  • Instead of entering the IOE department, 1610 IOE lecture hall will be on your right just after the end of the walkway, we will have a poster for the event on an easel outside the room for the 1PM panel discussion.

Parking
Blue permit parking is available in lot NC60, parallel parking spaces along Bonisteel, and lot NC16 (see map below). For those familiar with our CHEPS office location in SI North, this link has map/directions to SI North, which is south of LEC and IOE across Bonisteel: https://cheps.engin.umich.edu/maps-directions. Visitor parking can be found further south from SI North in lot NC5 (across Fuller from the VA), or behind Pierpont Commons at Bonisteel and Murfin Ave.

Public Transportation
Info on transportation options and maps can be found here: https://pts.umich.edu/maps. Numbers in parenthesis match blue numbers in yellow boxes on map above, stops 1, 2, or 3.

From Central Campus/Medical Campus:

  • Commuter North:  Taubman or Cancer Center bus stops to Art & Archtecture (1) or Cooley (2).  Commuter South for return trip.
  • Northwood:  Northbound pick-ups at Couzens/Zina Pitcher and Medical School bus stops to Pierpont Commons (1).  Southbound for return trip from Cooley (2) or Pierpont (1).
  • Bursley-Baits:  Northbound pick-ups at Couzens/Zina Pitcher and Medical School bus stops to Pierpont Commons (1).  Southbound for return trip from Pierpont Commons(1) to Glen/Catherine.
  • Northwood Express:  Northbound pick-up at Glen/Catherine to Pierpont Commons (1).  Southbound for return trip. 

From NCRC:

  • North-East Shuttle:  Southbound to Zina Pitcher pick-up at NCRC to Ford Library (3).  Northbound to East AA for return trip from Ford (3) to NCRC.

Getting to Ann Arbor
From I-96 East/M-14:
Take I-96 (Jeffries Freeway) west, past Interstate 275. Here I-96 (Jeffries Freeway) becomes M-14. Follow M-14, remaining in the left lane to US 23 South. The sign reads “Toledo”, not “Ann Arbor.” Take Exit 41, Plymouth Road. Follow Plymouth Road West to the fourth stop light, Murfin Avenue. Turn left on Murfin. Turn left on to Hayward. Turn right on Beal. The Lurie Engineering Center will be on your right side.

From US 23: Take Exit 41, Plymouth Road. Follow Plymouth Road west to the fourth stop light, Murfin Avenue. Turn left on Murfin. Turn left on to Hayward. Turn right on Beal. The Lurie Engineering Center will be on your right side.

From I-94 (Detroit Metro Airport): Take US 23 North to Exit 41, Plymouth Road. Follow Plymouth Road West to the fourth stop light, Murfin Avenue. Turn left on Murfin. Turn left on to Hayward. Turn right on Beal. The Lurie Engineering Center will be on your right side.

From I-96: Take I-96 East to US 23 South. Follow US 23 to M-14 East toward “Plymouth/Toledo”, not “Ann Arbor”; you will be exiting to the left. Follow M-14 to US 23 South; the sign reads “Toledo”, not “Plymouth”. From US 23, take Exit 41, Plymouth Road. Follow Plymouth Road west to the fourth stop light, Murfin Avenue. Turn left on Murfin. Turn left on to Hayward. Turn right on Beal. The Lurie Engineering Center will be on your right side.
