ED Ethnography (ED ETHNO)
ED Ethnography is a new project this semester focusing on better understanding the Michigan Medicine Emergency Department and its workflow. Using a combination of literature review and data visualization/analysis, ED Ethnography hopes to expand the knowledge of the ED to identify potential areas of improvement.
In Basket Overburden Team (IBOT)
The IBOT team works to create a tool to facilitate messages before they make it into a provider’s In Basket. They also use data analysis tools to explore potential inbox volume disparities amongst providers. Through these means, the team aims to decrease provider burnout by filtering out messages that either are not urgent or that are not appropriate for a provider’s In Basket.
Pharmacy Deep Dive (PHARMD2)
Pharmacy Deep Dive is a new project this semester focusing on better understanding the Michigan Medicine pharmacy and its workflow. Using a combination of literature review and data visualization/analysis, Pharmacy Deep Dive hopes to expand the knowledge of the pharmacy to identify potential areas of improvement.
Methods for Estimating Resources for Clinical Intervention (MERCI)
MERCI uses simulation software in an attempt to better allocate resources for lung screening implementation at the VA to better source materials to better serve the targeted community.
Support of Radiology Technologists Scheduling (RADTECH)
RADTECH assists the Michigan Medicine Interventional Radiology department with their scheduling efforts by generating shift and room assignments according to the scheduling rules, staffing times, and room needs in the Interventional Radiology department.
Resident Sleep and Mental Health (RSMH)
RSMH is a new project this semester evaluating resident schedules through historic trends and literature review, as well as direct contact with Michigan Medicine residents in an attempt to reduce perpetual resident burnout seen within hospitals nationwide.
Personalized Screening Algorithms for Maternal Health (PSAMH)
PSAMH is looking at creating an algorithm to evaluate both social and health factors that go into treatment plans for expecting mothers. The team aims to find the optimal results for treatment while minimizing resource use and improving patient equity.
Development Operations (DEVOPS)
DevOps is an internal project this semester focusing on improving CHEPS’s approach to solving optimization problems. DevOps is focused on revamping the existing CHEPS code library in order to create a more organized and user-friendly optimization library for all CHEPSters to use.
